I am sure you are all as eager as I am for the autumn weather to kick in. This heat is simply ridiculous and I know you are as sick of hearing me gripe about it as you are of experiencing the swelter. I know those rain showers are coming that bring the cool weather here to stay. Hopefully, there will be a decent window of opportunity for us to enjoy the outdoors before things get too extreme on the cold end of the spectrum.
I am going to cheat a little here and paste our secretary's email from the beginning of the month recapping our snack and chat. She worded her update so well, that there isn't much else for me to touch on. I knew there was a reason we needed her as our Secretary :)
Minutes from our August meeting:
"It's that time of year again! Children are reluctant to leave the comforts of home and summer fun to start school. Moms, on the other hand, are waving and smiling as their children head off to school. They rush back inside to cross one more thing off the daily "to do" list, Educationally Entertain Children in Multi-stimulating Ways That Keeps Them From Being Bored All Afternoon. As tiring as that task was to read so to can be entertaining children all day! :)
With that said, I eagerly await meeting all of you moms with school age children like myself. So, bring the tiny tot(s) still at home and join us this fall at our MOMS Club events and activities! We had a great turn out at our Snack N Chat this past Tuesday. If you were in attendance then you got to hear some MOMS Club news from our board members. If you didn't, you're in luck! I'll list them here for you now.
First, we are still waiting to bestow upon a lucky mom the AVP board position. I've heard this is the easiest job by far. (Unfortunately, this was told to me after I became the secretary.) We have a fun-loving board and we would love to fill this position with someone with creative ideas, or none at all. We can help you with the ideas part. ; )
Second, we are going to get MOMS Club t-shirts. Not the stiff frumpy kind that don't flatter ANYBODY. But, some really cool soft T's that have a flattering more stylish fit. There was a pic at the Snack N Chat. It would be great if everyone wanted to purchase one! (That could make the price cheaper too!) How fun would it be to wear them to events?
Third, we are asking for moms, if able, to help the club by hosting an event at their home. Moms get to know one another better when they are in a smaller more private area, where watching over their children is not completely mind consuming. If those moms with enough space inside or out could host a get together at their home please contact any board member.
Fourth, don't forget that our Care Calendar is up and running! Thanks, to our membership VP, who got this going for us. What an efficient for MOMS to help moms!
Finally, if you know of someone who would be interested in MOMS Club, please bring them to an event and/or get them in contact with any of the board members. We have such a great thing going, so spread the word. Also, as I mentioned earlier school has begun! So grab your MOMS Club friends who've been busy with school age kids, and bring them back out to our next activity.
Now, I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our Treasurer, Krista.
“I am originally from MI and in 2006 my husband, Jay, and I started helping in the expansion of a roofing company. We moved to three states in three years and once we spent a year in Nashville we decided that this was the place for us. I currently stay at home with our two girls, a three year old soon to be two year old. It was hard for me to become a mother and not have the comfort and support of my family and friends with me. Luckily I found MOMS Club and instantaneously found what I was missing. I have been a member of the club for 1 ½ years and love what it has done for myself and my family. I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer and I look forward to spending quality time with our members.”
With all that said, I wish you a fantastic start to fall!
Warmly,
Jean Virtue
